I have a theory that summer doesn't actually start on the calendar. It starts the moment a woman decides, publicly or privately, that she is done being available. The Summer Mood: Off Duty Sirens collection exists for that exact moment.
These mermaids are not on vacation. Vacation implies a return date. They are off duty, which is a state of mind with no expiration, and every design in this collection catches a different version of it.
The ones holding a drink
Some of them clocked out and headed straight for the dock. Dockside Happy Hour and Saltwater Happy Hour are the friends who texted "we're here" before you'd even agreed to come. Shellphone Happy Hour will absolutely take your call, but only to tell you where she's sitting. And Pour Decisions Below... I'm not saying I know her personally. I'm saying she looked familiar.
The ones holding a boundary
Then there's the sharper end of the collection. A You Problem says in plain words what some of us needed years of practice to say at all. Not My Tide belongs to the woman who has learned that not every current is hers to swim against. Return To Sender declines without explaining, and Maybe Tomorrow is the gentlest no in the water (she means never, and you both know it).
The ones who simply left
Off Duty Paddleboard is already past the breakwater and not checking her messages. Resting Deck Chair Face found her spot early and will be defending it until sunset. Cooler Than You isn't bragging... it's just the obvious reading of the situation, and she has made her peace with that.
Tessa found most of these, which surprised nobody. She came back from wherever it is she goes, held up Snack Tax Siren and Pier Pressure Diva, and announced we needed both. Brooke looked at them for a long five seconds and agreed, which from Brooke is a standing ovation.
Every design in the collection comes on a Comfort Colors premium tee, the kind of shirt that feels broken in before you've earned it.
Who came to mind?
Here's the real question, and I'll be honest ~ I recognized nearly every woman in this collection before I'd finished looking. The friend who runs dockside happy hour like it's her second job. The sister who answers every invitation with Maybe Tomorrow. Possibly the woman in your own mirror, the one who already knows which design is hers. If somebody came to mind while you were reading this, the collection is doing exactly what I hoped it would.
See the Summer Mood: Off Duty Sirens collection. Pearl supervised the whole thing from the end of the dock and withheld comment, which for Pearl counts as approval.
